Our Life Stories
Thank you for supporting this ministry through your prayers, volunteer service and financial support. Each of the families featured here boldly chose to share their stories with you. All of them were faced with difficult decisions as a result of unplanned pregnancy, but God has blessed them beyond belief because of their choice of life.
Empowering through the ministry of compassionate care since 1989
From the moment Mason’s mommy entered the Center, she was welcomed. Because the Center offered a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere, she felt comfortable sharing about her family and receiving guidance from a loving advocate. Mason’s mom says she always felt loved, supported, and prayed for.

Sha’Nya is not her parents’ first baby, but according to Sha’Nya’s mother, they needed all the help and prayers they could get. She is thankful for and loves the relationships she has built with the volunteers and staff. The most meaningful things to her are the Bible Studies and prayers after each class.

When Jordan and Taylor found out that they were going to have a baby, they were scared because they were young and worried about Taylor’s health. But the classes at YCRC have taught them how to care for their baby and get along as a couple. Once, when J’Lissa choked on something, Taylor was able to help her because of the class she had just attended at the Center on what to do if your baby chokes.
Jordan has especially benefited from the Fatherhood class that meets on Thursday nights. He says it has been helpful to have someone who understands his struggles as a dad and is there for him.
Julian’s mother was very excited about having a baby. Her favorite things about coming to the Center were the classes and the volunteers who led the classes. She would leave work every Thursday evening and come straight to the Center. She has saved everything she received from the Center – even all of her appointment cards!
Nakiya’s mother had some difficult complications during her pregnancy, and Nakiya’s health was very fragile. Many prayers were prayed for both of them. Even to the day of delivery, the doctors were unsure about the baby’s viability. But our God heard those prayers and answered them! Nakiya is a beautiful healthy baby. She and her mom are doing great!
Pam says, “Thank you,” to all the supporters of Your Choice. She wishes you could see the impact you are having on many families in our area.
Having a baby was not in Carson’s mom’s plans. She was young, and felt that she knew nothing about being a mother. By coming to YCRC, she has learned how to be a mom from the parenting classes. But her favorite part is the Bible Studies.
Without the Center, I don’t know what I would have done. Carson was not my plan – but what a joy! (Carson’s mom)
For Samson’s mom, the Center is a place where she can be herself. Everything is confidential and there is no fear of being judged. Growing up, she wasn’t taught how to love others in a healthy way, but at the Center, she feels loved and is learning how to love her children.
When I leave the Center, I feel like I’ve been to church! I want to say, ‘Thank you!’ to all the supporters of YCRC. You are making it possible for me to learn how to minister to my family and others. (Samson’s mom)
When Karlie’s mother came to the Center, she was frightened and confused. She didn’t know what she was going to do. According to Karlie’s mother, her advocate made her feel comfortable and supported. She is so thankful that she chose to keep her baby.

Both of Madison’s parents say that the Center has had such a positive effect on their family. Madison’s dad encourages her mom to come to the Center because she is so joyful when she comes home.
In her dad’s words, “A happy wife is a happy life.”
Mathias’ parents were not planning on having a baby. They were shocked. But when they heard their baby’s heartbeat and saw their son on the ultrasound, their shock turned to excitement. They knew God had a purpose for this baby. His dad says the Center has helped them own up to their responsibilities and put their faith in God.
To the supporters of YCRC, Mathias’ dad whole-heartedly says, “Thank you – just thank you!”
Although Cor’Meek’s mom was an experienced mother, Cor’Meek was a surprise to her and her husband. They were very concerned about having another child because of the financial strain. They were not sure that they were ready or able to bring another child into their family. The vouchers they earned from attending classes that were used to purchase baby items helped to relieve much of their stress. They also really enjoyed the classes. According to Cor’Meek’s mom, “You’re never too old to learn.”
They pray for God to bless the supporters of the Center, so the good work can continue.
Caeyden’s mother knew better than anyone that the action was a mistake. As a result, she was very confused as to the direction she should go regarding her pregnancy. But she felt no judgement when she came to the Center. Because she received the love, support, and help that she needed, Caeyden is here.
Caeyden is such a blessing. I’m very thankful for YCRC; I had nothing when I came. The Center saved my life. (Caeyden’s mom)
